Yoga for Parents

July 13th 10-11:30
@ The Trees: 1701 Pleasant Green Dr, Durham
$45
As parents that we serve our children best when we are at our best: present, patient, conscious, compassionate and clear. When we can stay connected to our own hearts, even in the midst of challenges, things go much more smoothly for us and for our kids. That inner connection increases our ability to connect with our children and that increases their ability to thrive. It also, of course, supports our own health and wellness – which is vastly important!
And, staying connected and calm is a tall order!
In the midst of the stresses of our lives, how can we support our own ability to be centered more of the time? The ancient path of yoga is a support to all people who want to dwell in their highest potential. On the mat we not only cultivate health, we also give ourselves the skills and support to embody patience, calm, compassion and more. This ripples out to everyone we interact with – especially for our kids.
This workshop is designed to be a much needed pause and re-set for parents. We’ll use time-tested yogic techniques to help you shift into your parasympathetic nervous system – allowing for much needed rest and a time to come back home to your own center. You’ll leave with resources that will help you find that rest again and again.
This July we’ll be delving into a skill that Simplicity Parenting calls “the compassionate response”. How can we support ourselves to respond with connection and compassion when our kids are having a hard time and giving us a hard time! We’ll cultivate this ability to respond with compassion – to ourselves and to them in those hard moments. This workshop blends my long-time experience as an educator, as a parent of two and as a Family Life Coach with my many years studying and practicing yoga.
